President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the Investments and Securities Bill 2025, which repeals the Investments and Securities Act No. 29 of 2007 and provides a modernised legal framework for Nigeria's capital markets.
The Act strengthens the powers of the Securities and Exchange Commission, formally recognises new asset classes and digital instruments, and enhances protections for retail investors.
Market participants view the reform as a major boost to capital market regulation, providing legal certainty for issuers, intermediaries, and investors.
