AVA Capital PLC has officially kicked off the fourth edition of its flagship AVA Securities Trading Competition (ASTC 4.0), a six-month live-market simulation designed to build the next generation of capital markets professionals in Nigeria.
First launched in August 2024, ASTC was created as a structured market simulation programme to develop practical investment and trading skills among university students across the country. Now in its fourth edition, ASTC 4.0 continues to grow in scale and competitiveness, bringing together 20 university teams in live market-based trading scenarios.
The six-month competition, which commenced on April 7, 2026, exposes participants to real-time market dynamics, portfolio strategy, and risk management within a controlled but performance-driven environment. Teams are evaluated on return on investment, decision-making discipline, and their ability to navigate shifting market conditions week after week.
Over the opening weeks, the leaderboard has reflected strong shifts in strategy and performance. Team Emerald (Babcock University II) set the early pace in Week 1, before Team Strategist (McPherson University) staged a remarkable climb from 11th to 1st in Week 2, and sustained the lead into Week 3 with a 15.11% ROI - underscoring the depth of talent and competitive intensity across the cohort.
ASTC 4.0 is part of AVA Securities Limited's broader commitment to market development, with a focus on strengthening financial literacy, nurturing future capital markets professionals, and creating a practical bridge between academic learning and real-world market application.
